Join The Secret Teachings Saturday November 29th at 10PM EST/7pm pst on Dark Matter Radio (LISTEN HERE) and Sunday November 30th at 9pm EST (LISTEN HERE) as host Ryan Gable breaks down the Turning of the ‘Wheel of the Year’, the calendar of the Celts, Wiccans, Pagans and others, who see the wheel as a cycle of birth, life and death, then rebirth relating to both the human condition, the four seasons and the dying and rebirthing of the Earth and the Sun as it moves through the sky from the Winter Solstice to the Summer Solstice and the Equinoxes in-between. Celebrations vary per the time of the year, but are sometimes had with dancing, fires, singing, ringing bells, sex, etc., to give ‘thanks’ for new life, harvested food and fertility of both the human and earth.
Ryan will break down the 8 yearly Sabbats; the Earth as a Goddess and the Sun as a saviour born of the Earth to protect her from the darkness of winter; the Green Man; and a review the importance of feasts relating to the occult origins of the American ‘thanksgiving’ along with the cornucopia and other forms of giving ‘thanks’ to the mother of Earth for what she provides us. Ryan also explains the origins of the other Holidays (the Pagan/Wiccan HOLY DAYS) such as Easter (Ostara) and Christmas (Yule or Saturnalia).

THE ORIGINS OF THANKSGIVING
Our modern holidays are variations of past celebrations that are formed to fit our modern day belief. Many look into the past from the little we think we know and try to convince themselves that the days they celebrate with meaning – Christmas (Saturnalia) or Yule, Halloween (Sowen), Easter (Ostara) or Imbolic, Valentines Day (Lupercalia), etc, etc – are only revamped versions of more ancient celebrations with completely different meanings than we give them today. Where as the ancients may have seen Saturnalia/Christmas as a time to worship nature in relation to astronomical alignments, christians see it as their mythical sun-god’s birthday. This association and relationship was built by emperors and the church who wanted to mainly merge belief systems together.
